Aladdin Genie Personal Reader from Jackson Technology
Genie opens the world of colour to people with limited vision. Genie is a full colour camera that magnifies text or photos on a colour monitor. Its sharp, realistic colour is invaluable for reading textbooks, maps, catalogues, instructions, and forms in colour.
Monitor Choice
Genie is designed to be used with your choice of monitor, including SVGA (computer), NTSC (TV), and S-video (TV). Since it can be used with a wide variety of monitors, Genie gives home and school users a system to suit their needs. It can also be connected to a computer to provide a full-colour, computer-access workstation.
Display Mode Choice
In addition to full-colour, the Genie displays images in high-contrast black and white. Genie offers a choice of positive images (black letters on a white background) or negative images (white letters on a black background). The negative image provides a high contrast viewing mode that is ideal for reading text. Twelve background and foreground colour combinations change the magnified image into the print colours best suited for many vision needs, such as amber on black, green on black, or yellow on blue.
PC Connection
The Genie is more than just a print magnifier. It works with Zoomtext Xtra to display magnified computer images.
Full screen images from your computer can be displayed on the same monitor that displays the Genie SVGA image. Genie automatically detects a computer connection. A light on the front panel notifies you of the computer's status.
A foot pedal can switch between the computer and the print image, allowing hands-free toggling between the two. With proper set up of the computer monitor, split-screen display modes can be selected. By using your computer monitor for both computer use and text reading, you can avoid the cost and inconvenience of two monitors.
Lines/Windows
Underlining and windowing (isolating portions of print) make some reading tasks even easier. Genie lets you underline or block out text for easy tracking.
